The Advisory Council on Intellectual Property (ACIF) is conducting a review
of the relationship between trade marks and business names, company names
and domain names

"The Council has been asked by the government to inquire into the interface
between trade marks and business names, company names and domain names. The
review aims to identify problems or issues that businesses or individuals
may have encountered; whether and how these problems or issues could have
been avoided; and whether there are ways to improve the operation of these
identifiers to reduce confusion, and provide a more streamlined and/or more
effective service.

ACIP has released an issues paper (download Acrobat Reader for PDF files)
and invites written submissions. Comments should be sent either
electronically to jeff.roberts&#167;ipaustralia.gov.au, or sent to:
