I think perhaps that some of you are reading too much into today's
announcement. This is merely a call for a) nominations for the panel
which runs independently of auDA once set up and b) proposals for the
panel to consider. The whole process runs independently of auDA and
will not interfere in any way with the current jobs at hand.

The panel will sit, at least, until close to the end of this year. At
the end of its deliberations it will make recommendations to the board
which will the consider them etc etc and so nothing is going to actually
happen in the market place until quarter 2 of next year at the earliest.

We will announce the go-live date for the new regime only when we can be
sure of a firm date. We do not wish to follow the .biz.au example of
having a constantly extending start-up date.

I agree, how about an update on where the registry is at... how far
along
are we... when will we have competition... not new domain names to be
added..

What are we adding it to???? No registry means no domain can be added...
And we are yet to see if the system that is put in place is capable of
handling what we have, let alone new 2LD's... SLOW down and concentrate
on
the tasks at hand.
