See my posting to Richards email. For clarity, once again, until the new
regime is actually introduced, auDA does not have any authority
whatsoever over resellers.

Does suspension of ING's registrar accreditation stop them from trading
and
deceiving Australian consumers in any way shape or form other than that
they can no longer promote themselves as an "Accredited Registrar"? Will
it
simply be "business as usual for them"?

If so, very little has been achieved folks. Until Melbourne IT and auDA
actually get serious about cleaning up this industry and protecting
Australian consumers against deceptive marketing practices, nothing has
changed. Australian consumers will still continue to pay the price for a
self regulated industry that clearly can't regulate itself without the
masses getting burnt.

Hi Chris,
This is good news - and about time. It will help create (and for some
people, restore) confidence in auDA and the new system.

But Ginger's comment below is right on...

The ING suspension is one thing, but IRA etc etc .. are still out there
circulating deceptive marketing material. Is anything going to be done
to
protect consumers from further deception ?

Chris, from a legal and operational perspective, can auDA initiate
suspension for other obvious sinners - or do you actually always have to
wait for orgs like ACCC to take action first before auDA can act?

I hope you can clarify this as, to my mind at least, it goes to the
heart
of the issue.

cheers
