Actually the "phone book" is currently http://www.aunic.net - you can of
course have your company name in that directory. It is the equivalent of
the whitepages. It lists who is associated with a particular domain name,
just as a whitepages phone book lists who is associated with a particular
telephone number.
e.g for the domain name logistic.com.au, the organisation name is:
Organization-Name: Logistics Pty Ltd

A domain name is not a business name, it is an identifier for locating an
Internet resource.

If you want a 1800 number (an identifier that translates into an actual
telephone number) that has numerals that roughly match your company name as
is common in the USA - e.g 1800 LOGISTICS, you would be subject to the same
issue where only one company can have the identifier.

Your suggestion to create new 2LDs will be the subject of ongoing policy
review by auDA next year - it would be great to have a submission from you
to the relevant panel at the time.
