Not sure about this article - I did a WHOIS on some of these domains and
they are still available. Accuracy?

]Apart from the absurdity of the article's assertion that the FBI "should
]have known", this piece demonstrates the ignorance of the domain
]name system
]by the public and general media.
]
]The use of tools like whois and the general principles of domain names are
]certainly not known outside of the industry. In fact I would imagine that
]many ordinary people equate domain names with web hosting.
]
]This ignorance goes to the core of building a better domain name system and
]reducing cyber squatting. People still believe that domains have intrinsic
]value, but you would be hard pressed to find the same value attached to
]phone numbers.
]
]I don't know what exactly should be done, but perhaps AuDA should devote
]some resources to improving awareness, it is isn't already.
