US closes bidding on '.us' domain
The US government closed the bidding on proposals to manage its ".us"
Internet domain on Friday despite pleas from lawmakers, computer users
and public-interest groups that the process should be given more time.

ICANN directors irate over .name email "monopoly"
The pending contract between ICANN and the company that will control the
new .name domain, has even some ICANN directors up in arms
A director of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
has come out swinging at the Global Name Registry Ltd, operator of the
forthcoming .name top-level domain, accusing ICANN of awarding the firm
a monopoly on email services under the new domain.
