ICANN Sydney Meeting - http://syd.icann.org/

ICANN's 35th meeting in Sydney will gather leaders and companies of the region and from all around the world.

Through these public meetings ICANN encourages the wide international participation in the Internet's governance development process with different actors from governmental sectors and the civil society (a multi-stakeholder approach), gathering participants of more than 90 countries, merging influent leaderships, pioneers, visionaries, entrepreneurs and governmental authorities. Therefore, this is a great opportunity to establish contact with that selected public of global leaderships.

As local co-hosts for the ICANN Sydney Meeting, AusRegistry International and auDA expect this event to assist in showcasing Australia as a global leader in the digital world.

This is only the second time that an ICANN event has been held in Australia so take advantage of this rare opportunity.

In excess of 1,200 attendees from around the world are expected at this meeting, from very diverse backgrounds including:

- Government representatives

About ICANN - http://icann.org/

To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn't have one global Internet.

ICANN was formed in 1998. It is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet's unique identifiers.

ICANN doesn.t control content on the Internet. It cannot stop spam and it doesn.t deal with access to the Internet. But through its coordination role of the Internet's naming system, it does have an important impact on the expansion and evolution of the Internet.
