Hi all,

auDA's 2007 Names Policy Panel is currently reviewing the policy framework for .au domain names and has released a consultation paper for its second round of public consultation. Issues addressed include:

    * whether .au should be opened up to direct registrations (eg. domainname.au)
    * whether the policy rules for domain names should be changed
    * whether registrants should be allowed to sell their .au domain names.

The Panel has released its Draft Recommendations for public consultation. To comment on the draft recommendations you'll need to submit a submission, but first you'll probably want to read the draft recommendations and see a bit more about the consultation process. This information is available from http://auda.org.au/news-archive/auda-06092007/ and http://auda.org.au/2007npp/2007npp-index/

The closing date for submissions is Friday 19 October 2007 and as I write this there are already 5 submissions. The Panel is due to provide its final recommendations to the auDA Board in November.

So anyone with an interest, get writing!

Cheers
David
