afaik they have to instruct either ausregistry or a registrar to actually
remove the domain from the system. auda would have to take a registrant
to court to force it do anything.  the registry or registrar would be in breach of
contract if it didnt remove a name as instructed.

domains hold no special status in law, unlike business names, company names and
trademarks. domains are in principal no different to phone numbers.
likewise there is never going to be a shortage of phone numbers.
