Alright, Thanks Bruce. Thorough as usual :> Ginge -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Tonkin [mailto:Bruce.Tonkin§melbourneit.com.au] Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2002 6:07 PM To: 'dns§lists.auda.org.au' Subject: [DNS] WHOIS info on identity of the registrar The domain name licence agreement is between the registrar and the registrant. A reseller is required to inform the registrant of this at the time of the registration. ie the reseller is required to inform the registrant that the domain name is supplied by the registrant. Just as a mobile phone retailer will generally let you know which carrier (Telstra, Optus etc) is providing the mobile phone service. The WHOIS information reflects this. A registrant can in the case of Melbourne IT, find out the name of their reseller if they are not sure.
