That accuracy of that statement is entirely consistent with all others from
the same source.

Having spent 20 years in management with major manufactureres such as
Unilever and Coca-Cola, I can assure people that the issue of manufacturers
dealing direct with consumers and cutting out the middleman has always been
a major souce of contention with their agents / wholesalers / retailers.
From time to time, from company to company, the pendulum swings between
"we'll let our agents / wholesalers / retailers handle the customers" to
"we'll contact the customers directly".

I'm confident the same thing will happen in the Registrar / Reseller space,
because the reasons & motivations are no different.  Expect different
strategies to be pursued by different Registrars at different times
regarding who contacts the customer about what.  Do not be surprised at
inconsistency.
