Hello Ron,

I agree with your comments below entirely and will be taking the matter up
with the ACCC on behalf of my client.

Copies of the DDNS unsolicited Renewal Notices together with their
Certificate of Domain Name Ownership Order Form (Dated April 2002) have been
faxed through to Chris Disspain, auDA. I guess we shall await his comments.
I would also be interested to hear his views on individuals engaging in such
business practices whilst sitting on the COC committee. Whatever happened
to the preamble to the auDA constitution "Taking the view that the Internet
Domain Name System is a public asset, and that the .au ccTLD is under the
sovereign control of the Commonwealth of Australia, auDA will administer the
.au ccTLD for the benefit of the Australian community." ?

I've just had *another* angry phone call from one of my customers who in the
last few days received a "special offer" from Discount Domain Name Services,
among others.

Why the hell should I have to defend my business against an undeserved
reputation caused by the conduct of a handful of rogue resellers?

Why should I be put in the position of having to degrade our industry by
having to say to my customers that such spammers are a bunch of shonks?

Why should I have to spend my time in trying to explain to my clients why
such businesses are still allowed to operate?

I'm absolutely fed up with those self-appointed custodians of our morals who
pontificate about their compliance with a code of conduct, yet blatantly
flout the spirit of that code and continue to spam our clients.

To DDNS - you may find such conduct admirable, but sure as hell neither I
nor my clients do. I have asked for the original documents so that we can
take the matter further.
