What sort of data will the new registrars get, the whole .com.au database
which would enable them to market to everybody's existing clients ) or just
their own registrants ?

New domain name registry ready for testing

Melbourne 2 May 2002:- auDA has received notification from AusRegistry
that they have completed construction of all registry systems and begun
system wide testing. Registry hardware is operational inside secure
multi-homed redundant data centres at Connect Pty Ltd's and AusRegistry
premises. Several data transitions of existing .au domain name data into
the new registry have been completed successfully.

auDA test bed and provisionally accredited registrars are well underway
constructing their new interface systems and are connecting and
communicating with the registry.

auDA will commence acceptance testing of the registry on Tuesday 7 May
2002. At the completion of the acceptance testing auDA will announce the
date upon which the new systems and the new regime will 'go live'.
