Been a lot of discussion on the model of competitors sending out
misleading renewal notices.  There does seem to lately been a shift for
such notices to have more explanatory text and to clearly state it is
from a competitor and not the Registrar/reseller who holds the domain.

I suspect will see more of the notices for consumers like in the above
URL.
